Jump on board for a crossing to the English East Coast
Are you a lover of the sea and adventure or would you like to experience a North Sea crossing? Seize your chance in 2025, when we will organize a 6-day SOUL expedition in which we cross the North Sea to the beautiful, idyllic English East Coast.
Depart from IJmuiden, through the lock and out to sea towards the River Orwell in English Suffolk. This is a rural, shallow and partly drying tidal river. But our ‘Marie’ can sail a considerable distance inland thanks to her shallow draft. The crossing of 125 nautical miles takes between 24 and 36 hours, depending on the weather. We sail through the night and keep watch, and on the way we cross busy traffic lanes with large and fast-moving commercial vessels. A special experience for those who have never done this before. Along the way there is plenty of opportunity to delve into navigating at sea and using the instruments. Of course you can ask the crew about anything that has to do with sailing a large sailing ship.
Safety first. For example, we have various ports as alternatives (there is always a Plan B), including Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, which can be reached in all weather conditions. Depending on the weather, the tide and the available time, we hoist our sails (as much as possible) or start the engine. And if the trip is not possible at all, we have great alternative programs that we would be happy to explain personally.
We invite you to live our slogan: 'Enjoy the Room to Be'. So if you need to eat something in between? Just open the cupboard. Or do you want to just sit on the aft deck in the hammock or skip a training session? That's perfectly fine. Feeling what serves you and acting accordingly helps you to relax more and more, to enjoy and to be open to the effect of the SOUL sessions.
In addition to a number of SOUL sessions on board, we will also take a nice walk along the riverbanks with coaching in nature for the entire group. In addition to food for the SOUL, our stomachs also want something. Every day you will receive a delicious breakfast (in silence), lunch and dinner (except for one day) on board, but the famous sailors' café The Butt & Oyster in Pin Mill should not be missed. We will take you there for lunch. The afternoon will be partly for free time, partly with SOUL sessions. The next day, in addition to free time, we will also take a Mindful walk, with coaching in nature. Somewhere at the end of the day we will sail towards Ipswich where we will find a place in the harbor for the night. That evening, captain cook is free and you will eat out. Perhaps also a nice opportunity to visit an English pub, or just stroll through the town. Day 5 has not yet been filled in. That day will also be filled with SOUL sessions and free time.
